This past spring, Anneke Rode was a participant in DZF's Music Mentor program. Throughout the course of her songwriting project, she processed difficult feelings about the changes that can happen in friendships.
Anneke premiered her song on Facebook Live on May 10 joined by her mother and Paulie Z. She articulated some of the difficult parts of the process, and talked about how songwriting helped her represent her feelings more vulnerably. It opened up communication with family and friends and emboldened her to confidently express what she is feeling and going through.
